Chief Scout's / Queen's Scout Awards

The top awards in the Explorer Scout Section are the Chief Scout's Platinum Award, the Chief Scout's Diamond Award and the Queen's Scout Award. All three are linked to the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold respectively). Cheif's Scout Platinum Award

To gain this Award the you must have been a member of Explorer Scouts for at least six months.
Completed twelve nights (of which four must be camping).
Complete two activities from the International, Environment and Values list.
Hold the Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award, or complete the four Platinum Scout Challenges, which are:
1. take up a Skill for three / six months, and show progress and lasting interest.
2. take up a Physical Activity for three / six months, completing an agreed programme of taking part and achievement.
3. provide Service to an individual or the community for three months. (This can include helping with another Section as a Young Leader)
4. complete a three day and two night expedition in rural country by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.

Members must undertake an extra three months in any of the Skills, Physical Recreation or Service Challenges.

Cheif's Scout Diamond Award

To gain this Award the you must have been a member of Explorer Scouts for at least twleve months.
Completed twleve nights (of which eight must be camping).
Complete two activities from the International, Environment and Values list.
Hold the Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award, or complete the four Diamond Scout Challenges, which are:
1. take up a Skill for three months, and show progress and lasting interest.
2. take up a Physical Activity for three months, completing an agreed programme of taking part and achievement.
3. provide Service to an individual or the community for three months. (This can include helping with another Section as a Young Leader)
4. complete a two day and one night expedition in rural country by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.

All members must undertake six months in either the Skills or Physical Recreation Challenges.

Queen's Scout Award

To gain this Award the you must have been a member of Explorer Scouts for at least eighteen months.
Completed eighteen nights (of which tweleve must be camping).
Complete two activities from the International, Environment and Values list.
Hold the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award, or complete the five Queens Scout Challenges, which are:
1. take up a Skill for six / twelve months, and show progress and lasting interest.
2. take up a Physical Activity for six / twelve months, completing an agreed programme of taking part and achievement.
3. provide Service to an individual or the community for twelve months. (This can include helping with another Section as a Young Leader)
4. complete a four day and three night expedition in open or adventurous country by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
5. complete a five day and four night residential project in an unfamiliar environment with people who are not known.

All members must undertake twelve months in either the Skills or Physical Recreation Challenges.
